Digital Multimeters
Multimeters are probably the most common items of electrical test equipment and a must have for any hobbyist doing any kind of electronics or electrical projects. Multimeters do just what the name implies – they measure a range of different variables and by the operating of a multi-position switch of some kind and at the most basic they can operate as a voltmeter, an ammeter or a ohmmeter, and they have several settings (called ranges) for each type of meter.
Modern digital “multimeters” measure voltage, current and resistance. More complex ones will also measure frequency, conductance, capacitance, decibels, and even temperature and other parameters.
